SunGard BS 25999 Self Assessment Tool

The BSI’s new Standard for Business Continuity Management (BSM), BS 25999, allows organisations to enhance their resilience to business interruptions.

Utilising the Standard requires a basic understanding of the issues that it encompasses, so that organisations can begin to make plans about how they should proceed.

To assist organisations taking their first steps towards adhering to BS 25999, SunGard Availability Services have developed a BS 25999 Self Assessment Tool that will give users a perspective on how their existing BCM processes and plans adhere to BS 25999.

The questions focus on the five mains areas of the Standard:

  • BCM policy and programme management
  • Understanding the organisation
  • Determining BCM strategies
  • Developing and implementing a BCM response
  • Exercising, maintenance and review

At the end of the survey, users will be able to compare their results anonymously to those who with have already taken part.

How to complete the Survey

You will need to register to take part in the survey, this will allow you to return to the survey at anytime, as you complete all the responses.

The questions are based on a series of simple statements, focusing on different aspects of the Standard, which you can choose a response of Yes, No, Don’t Know, or Partially:-

  • Yes - means you believe your organisation’s Business Continuity (BC) activity fully supports the statement
  • No - means you believe your organisation’s BC activity does not support the statement
  • Don’t know - means that you are unable to judge whether your organisation’s BC activity supports the statement
  • Partially – the statement applies in part; either activity has been started but not completed or the statement applies to a part of your business only.

Once you have provided answers, you will be able to gauge graphically how your responses compare to BS 25999 – the higher the score, the closer the adherence to BS 25999.

Once you have completed the survey, you will be able to save and print your results.
